Following up on coverage of VMWare looking to compete with MS Exchange with its Zimbra Collaboration Suite, Matthew Weinberger of thevarguy.com compiled a list of 7 companies which are looking for a piece of the ME Exchange market. These are:- Google Apps - Google Apps is the most prominent rival of Exchange, looking to wean away suers with its low cost, fully web based approach. It offers integrated communication and collaboration functionality, which takes it beyond Exchange's purely messaging features. Zoho - Zoho offers a large number of enterprise and consumer productivity modules, some of which threaten the MS Exchange market. An added advantage is the fact that it offers integration with both Google Apps and SharePoint. HyperOffice - Like Google Apps, HyperOffice also offers integrated communication and collaboration software. Their unique positioning is a laser focus towards small businesses, integrated push messaging capabilities and the ability to integrate with tradition MS Outlook and MS Office environments.  IBM LotusLive - Lotus used to be a serious contender in the enterprise messaging domain but somehow got relegated to the background. IBM LotusLive is the hosted version of the famous Lotus Notes, and hopes to benefit from the SaaS revolution, and eat into MS Exchange's market.  VMWare - VMWare recently acquired the Zimbra Collaboration Suite from Yahoo, which wasnt quite able to figure out what to do with it. VMware hopes to leverage the technology of Zimbra, one of the first AJAX based solutions, and give Exchange a run for its money. Zimbra comes in hosted, on premise and open source versions. Open Xchange - Open Xchange has significant leverage with VARs and MSPs and hopes to leverage its channel network. Â
