Microsoft does it again. Another outage. PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 01 September 2011 00:00

After a spate of downtime problems to Microsoft BPOS (close to 6 times over 2 months), Microsoft still had an excuse - BPOS was based on Exchange 2007, but as BPOS was going to be replaced by Office 365, based on the multi tenant new-gen Exchange 2010, downtime issues would be relegated to ancient history.

With Office 365 experiencing its first downtime a few days ago, that argument has suddenly withered away. The issue lasted for close to 3 hours on August 17th, with many users unable to access their email, and administrators unable to manage existing accounts or provision new accounts. The ill reputed Service Health Dashboard also kept going down intermittently.

The fact that this has happened in the first few months of Office 365's launch should be taken as warning signs by prospective users.
