Last night, I repeated my Thursday ritual of opening the techbroadcasting.com site to listen in to one of my favorite technology radio shows "The Mac Night Owl Live". For those who haven’t heard of it, it is a hugely popular (the techbroadcasting family of sites receives a whopping 2 m visitors per month) weekly online talk show presented by the indomitable Gene Steinberg, best selling author and columnist. The show targets mainly Mac users, but is a great place to get some very sound opinions and advice on the technology space, from Gene and regularly featured eminent industry personalities.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Shahab Kaviani from HyperOffice, one of the solutions we have covered, was to be featured on the show. Having used and reviewed the product thoroughly myself, I was aware of most of the features, but it was nice to hear the company's vision and product articulated by one of its top executives. It was fun to see Shahab trying to list the product's entire feature range within the time constraints. It was interesting to know that HyperOffice is pitching itself as MobileWe against MobileMe from iPhone as "MobileMe is mostly a personal information manager (PIM), and doesnt deserve to be called 'exchange for the rest of us', because it doesn’t allow sharability. HyperOffice on the other hand also allows users to synch and share contacts, calendars and tasks (including Outlook information) from their iPhone".

For those who haven't heard of HyperOffice, it is a web based suite of integrated collaboration and messaging tools targeted towards small to medium sized businesses. They've got a pretty comprehensive feature set (perhaps the most comprehensive in the market) - email, email hosting, document management, calendaring, intranet/extranet publishing,  task management, forums, polls, IM, Outlook integration, mobile access etc. You can check out the "features comparison" page for our assessment.

Do check out the show! (Especially small business owners and iPhone users) You can listen to a recording here.
